Our friends from MEDCEM asked for our help in providing logistical support and diving services for their new project “ECONOMIC BENEFITS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND POTENTIAL BLUE CARBON VALUE OF FUTURE KATIC MPA”.
A project was funded by MedPAN organization, and it revolves around the idea that precious meadows of the Posedonia Oceanica in Montenegrins waters, should be protected as one of the crucial and irreplaceable links in the marine ecological system.
With help of Scuba Quest dive center staff, and the crew of dive boat “Downunder”, experts and volunteers from MEDCEM had performed number of underwater measurements, bio sampling, video recording, and launched number of permanent Posedonia monitoring stations.
Furthermore, number of ecological mourning anchors were installed in the locations of Katic, Queens Beach and Maljevik. These locations are frequented by nautical traffic and significant damage is inflicted to the Posedania meadows by the boat anchors.
